Farmers Market
Sunday, June 27, 2010
I had a great time exploring the Hillcrest farmers market today, I had to do a double trip back to the car to leave a few bags of fruits and veggies because they were so heavy! This was one of the best farmers market in San Diego that I have been to, I fell in love!
Here are some pictures! I gotta go to church soooooon! very soon.
I was feeling snacky, but the first thing I saw was the GreenFix organic smoothie booth. The ingredients put into that smoothie sounded perfect. I had a few beers the night before and I felt the need to detox a bit! I sipped and samples many fruits and vendors. There were so many samples!
delicious!
These must be the cutest strawberries. I've never seen them so small, and I think these strawberries must be the real deal. Organic, local, and pesticide free!
I bought four bulks! I don't know what hit me, but I'm looking forward to eating it with my breakfast and snack tomorrow.
I was really tempted to buy a pot of herbs to cook with, and mostly to brew along with my tea. I saw a different assortment of mint leaves that I thought would go perfect with a light grain salad or an iced tea. mmmm. Maybe next week!
low and behold....Garlic Scapes! I was so excited when I found these, now I just need to find recipes that I can use them with.
Samples are key! if it weren't for the samples, I would've never bought a cantelope. They were so sweet and juicy. It so refreshing, and usually I have a love-hate relationship with melons, but these were epic!
I didn't want to leave the market without trying out some local eats, I wanted something exciting. Out of all things, this vegan "pasta" caught my eye.
The noodles are made from zucchinis (which I bought) so maybe I can recreate this dish at home. It was very good! I loved the added mint to the pasta. yum
along with a vegan coconut cream pie.
The crust reminded me of Larabars and I thought it was neat how the "cream" filling was made from cashews and coconut meat. sooo awesome. I don't think I'd mind going vegan at all!
Shoooot! I am late for church, gotta drive!
toodles.
