Sleep is your bestfriend

I should be doing my homework, buuuuut I will hold that off for a bit. Last night I came home from class and was so hungry, it was too late to be cooking something, so instead I just made myself a green monster. It wasn't as great because of my lack of Almond Milk and I have a feeling it was also due to my banana. I honestly believe the best banana out there is Dole. Instead I had a small frozen Chiquita. There is just something special about Dole and I can't put my finger on it.

My green monster was ehhh.

  • 8oz almond milk +water
  • handful of steamed spinach cooled
  • 2 scoops of Amazing grass wheatgrass
  • 1 Tbsn Salba
  • 1 Tbsn Chia seeds
  • 1 scoop chocolate whey
  • small frozen banana
  • Peanut butter!

I also made sure to pack my lunch for today last night. Today's lunch was brown rice with cucumber salad w/ TJ's reduced fat Feta + grilled chicken breast.

I had my lunch cold again, it was colder than it was yesterday but suprisingly again...it was great! I love the Foreman so much, it was the best tasting chicken that I ever prepared for lunch. I used Mrs. Dash's original blend + garlic pepper to season the chicken.

Sorry for the bad quality. I can't recall the exact measurements but this includes:
  • Drained black beans
  • 1 whole cucumber
  • a squeeze of lemon
  • TJ's diced tomatos with green chile (drained)
  • Mrs. Dash
  • Chilli flakes
  • Peppa'
  • some of TJ's reduced fat feta or you can save for the end.

I just loved the mushiness of the black bean and the crunchiness of the diced cucumbers together, and the creaminess/distinctive flavor of the feta. It is pretty good cold since I've been eating my lunches that way lately.

This morning I had oats! I had left over ingredients from my cookies and wanted to indulge something sweet.

+ My oats included PB, sprinkle of semi-sweet chocolate chips, sprinkle of shredded coconut, chia seeds, salba, a naner, and a tad of Maple butter. So good, everything melted in together and I was tempted to add more chocolate chips but I held myself back.

+ SOOOOO remember that starbucks I had last night? well the caffiene from the coffee totally messed with my sleep. I couldn't sleep at all, I was in bed listening to my ipod and/or try to move around and get comfortable.

+ I probably fell asleep around 5am and woke up at 7:30. I felt so drained today at school. After class I decided I was okay enough to head to the gym.

+ I just got back from the gym an hour ago, I ate my lunch and ....

...and I was craving coffee, so got the same order from yesterday. As I was drinking it I decided to post a blog about my lack of sleep due to the starbucks, and I realized that the coffee I was drinking at that very moment was caffinated. I forgot to get it as a de-caf :o(

+ I'm just hoping that I can fall asleep tonight. I have been drinking coffee for the past three days. I hope it doesn't become an addiction. I need to head back to drinking tea again.

Which is your favorite starbucks drink and which is your least favorite?

Goodnight, wish me luck on my sleep, I think I'll need it :o(

Jitter buggin and on track.

I think posting about slipping on my eating habits and exercising helped me a bit through today :o) and I am thankful for the wonderful feedback, it surely made my day/night.

I finally used my George Foreman grill this morning! I bought it on Black Friday while everyone in my family opted for laptops, clothes, and cameras. I was super excited and the whole house smelled really good. I honestly have a hard time cooking chicken with my conventional toaster oven. Either my chicken comes out:

  • Too dry
  • A little bit under-cooked
  • So over-cooked! (only because it gives me ease that it's not under-cooked)
  • It's so over cooked that one time I cut the roof of my mouth (tsk tsk!)

+ Basically rarely is my chicken ever perfect! so one day I finally got fed up and bought myself a thermo and that helped for a bit, but sometimes I'd notice little increments of pink and suddenly I lose my appetite.

+ BUT! with the George Foreman grill, it was quick and effortless...minus the cleaning. I actually didn't go to my Economics class because the thought of leaving my Foreman Grill at home unclean urks me. I chose to grill at the wrong time, which was before class to grill.

+ Lesson Learned: PLAN and make many to last at least half a week :o)

I finally went to the gym today, because I haven't gone in almost a week! I got into it pretty fast.

Elliptical: 1 hour and 5 minute cool down & Core: 45 minutes

It felt so great. While I was on the elliptical, it occured to me that stress was simply keeping me away from going to the gym. Because I figured that the thought of going to the gym with the countless of assignments due would make my experiences less enjoyable.

BUT it was the opposite. I left the gym with a feeling of euphoria, and with that mood, I felt happier to start on all of my papers. Amazingly enough I did!

+ What's even great is that after the gym I had my lunch from my cooler. I was bummed out that there wasn't any conventional microwave near by. So I ate it cold, and suprisingly it was good! I owe it all to The George for still keeping my chicken moist.

Lunch: Grilled chicken breast, Asparagus, Black bean mixed with (diced tomatoes, green chiles, cucumbers, squeeze of lemon, and Mrs. Dash original blend) and brown rice.

Before class and after, I got a Grande Nonfat Cafe Latte with a Caramel Brulee syrup. (they didn't have sugar free) it was tasty!

On the tangent: It was totally random that in my Anthropology class yesterday, were discussing hemorroids. In Japan they believe that the traditional toliets that we use or sitting on our bottoms too long on a hard surface can cause it. So therefore, a good soultion to fix this is if we use holes as our dumping ground. It was interesting.

So here I am at Barnes and Noble, sitting on a bench as I type this. The hard surface isn't that comfortable so obviously my bum would hurt from sitting on it. But thinking about that lecture on hemorroids freaked me out! (TMI?) yeah I think so.

It feels so warm and nice to hear Christmas music playing at stores.

I hope you all are Swell, keep warm!

My schedule is so whacked!

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Post-Thanksgiving, I have been trying to catch up on school work and I've just been putting my training and eating schedule in the back burner.

+ Right now, I just feel so sluggish, frustrated, sad, and ....just feeling a lot of mixed emotions right now.

+ I tell myself that I'll eat better that I WILL eat clean tomorrow, but that is hardly the case sometimes. school and stress and hormones are making me eat like a crazy barbarian.

+ Since the majority of bloggers are women, I will mention that it's that day of the month, so that makes me feel a little bit better that it may be hormonal issues rather than me being the issue.

+ I have just recently discovered what it is to Eat Clean this pass summer. My ex-boyfriends mom is a fitness competitor and in her 50's. Watching her take care of herself ( I see her at the gym all the time pushing it 100% and/or the way she eats--totally 99.9% CLEAN) it inspired me to take care of myself and kick it up a notch . So I saw a copy of The Eat Clean Diet on her kitchen counter and bought a copy for myself. Since then I have begun to notice some changes in my body, and I fell in love with fitness and nutrition. I wish I can write more...which I will.

Sometimes reading your blogs and everybodys blog just nudges me a bit to do something better for myself.

+ I just had to admit that I am falling off the wagon just a little bit so that I can see the truth which will set me to be accountable for the things I do. I will get back on track.

BUT right now, school work comes before the gym. After I get my (4) papers done and another project. I will get my butt back to the gym. Plus I haven't seen the hot trainers in forever.

+ Watching The Biggest Loser completing their marthons...so inspiring and amazing.

Speaking of inspiration, Jamie Eason is one of my many inspirations! Before I knew how to work a twitter, she was one the first person to actually respond. Such a sweet person.

My itunes erased all of my music from my ipod :o( so I need to sync everything in. I use my empty music as an excuse not to go to the gym haha, but I will upload it tomorrow oooor tonight.

Did things get in the way of putting your health first? and how did you bounce back.

Goodnight
